What is Shiatsu Healing?

Shiatsu Healing is a hands-on healing therapy.  It has its roots in traditional Japanese medicine, but it also draws from various western bodywork and healing techniques.  The concept of Ki - often translated, as breath, movement, life force or energy - is central to the treatment, as are the network of pathways, pressure points and gateways where Ki travels, enters and leaves the body.

The Shiatsu Healer uses touch, both on and off the body, to contact those areas, which might be in pain, stagnant, tired or depleted, and draws from your own healing potential to balance, harmonise and energise.

Shiatsu Healing treats the whole person.  Sometimes a physical pain can have its roots in past emotional trauma, or mental discomfort or spiritual unease.  When in pain we tend to give our attention to what is ‘wrong’, during a Shiatsu Healing session the focus is also on what is ‘right’ and on your potential for growth and renewal.
